MALIBU

A Malibu is a larger surfboard with a lot of volume but not quite that of a longboard. They typically range in from 6 feet to 8 feet long. The Malibu is perfect for surfers who want to transition to a smaller board while still maintaining additional paddling power and stability. It can come in a variety of tail shapes, nose shapes, and foils.

HYBRID

The Hybrid surfboards combines the high performance of a shortboard with the extra width and tail of a Fish. In most cases, hybrids have some combination of extra width, thickness, length or roundness. A Hybrid surfboard is a good board to ride if you want a little extra something to help in less than perfect conditions but you still wish to maintain the style of a shortboard. The extra thickness can help in catching waves while extra width will help with stability. These are also good boards for surfers with a little bit more girth, but who don’t feel like only riding longboards.

SHORTBOARD

It's a board used to perform quick maneuvers on waves and is the most popular type of surfboard design. The size of these shortboards is generally from around 5'8'' to 6'10''. It will have a greater amount of rocker which allows it to surf in critical sections of the wave. It is most commonly seen with sharp noses, thins rails, and either three or four fins.

FISH

The fish is very similar to a shortboard but is smaller in length. The lack of length is made up for with an increase in the width of the board, giving it a slightly more rounded shape. Fish are generally between 4'8'' and 6'0''. There is a popular misconception that fish make good beginners surfboards - this is not the case.
