For the third consecutive year, 58 Surf has joined forces with the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Surfrider Foundation Portugal and together they are launching a campaign that aims to raise awareness about the importance of water quality in bathing areas, seeking to guarantee the health of ecosystems and the safety of the entire community.
Thus, under the motto “Love for the Ocean”, from February 7th to 14th, for every purchase made in 58 Surf physical stores and on 58surf.com, €1 will be donated to help finance the “Surf and clean water” project.
Over the years, 58 Surf has dedicated itself to working on sustainability, from the way the flagship store was designed and built in Ericeira, to the display of products and selection of brands it sells.
In addition, and with a view to taking responsibility for the waste generated by the surfing industry, 58 is committed to developing solutions for recycling wetsuits, through the Endure The Cycle program.
“We are aware that in this industry it is very difficult to be fully sustainable, but we believe that we can reduce our footprint through some simple actions. As Surfrider is a very active environmental organization linked to the sea, it makes perfect sense for us to join their projects and help in any way we can”, says Beatriz Silva, Retail Marketing Manager at 58 Surf stores.
The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to protecting the oceans, coastlines and beaches. In Europe, Surfrider is headquartered in Biarritz, France, and is present in several countries, including Portugal. Here, it has delegations in Peniche, Ericeira, Lisbon, Azores and Porto.
